Different hot tub & spa manufacturers have different takes on what is best for their hot tubs (110 Volts or 220 Volts). We have found that in all but the warmest climates 220V is the way to go. This is due to the fact the when a hot tub is run on 220V the wattage of the heater in most cases is as much as quadrupled, leading to faster recovery times. Also hot tubs and spas that use 110 Volt heaters will shut the heater down when the hot tubs jets are ran at high speed. This leads to more heat loss during usage.
Typical hottub electrical requirements are (but may vary with different equipment - so check with your hot tub dealer for specifics): 110V systems which plug into a standard household outlet.
220 Volt operating systems which require proper amperage GFCI and can be wired by an electrician. ChooseHotTubsDirect.com has a great network of service professionals which we are able to put in direct contact with our customers.
